Privacy Policy

SeaThru (“SeaThru”, “we”, “us”) turns any tech concept into a short, AI-generated animated explainer that plays instantly in your browser. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to seathru.app and everything we serve from it.

The short version

  • We ask Google only for your basic profile — your name, email address, and profile picture. We never get your Google password, contacts, Drive, Gmail, or anything else.
  • We store the topics you type and the videos you generate so we can play them back, build your library, and power public explore pages.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we don't run third-party advertising.
  • Payments are handled by our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number.

Who we are

SeaThru is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@seathru.app.

Data we collect

Account & sign-in (Google OAuth). SeaThru only supports signing in with Google. When you sign in, Google shares a limited set of basic-profile fields with us, which we store to create and identify your account:

  • Your email address
  • Your name and profile picture (as provided by Google)
  • A unique Google account identifier

We use the standard OAuth login scopes only. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendar, or any other Google service, and we never receive your Google password.

Content you create. To generate, replay, and organize your explainers, we store:

  • The topics and prompts you type
  • The generated scene scripts, titles, descriptions, articles, and thumbnails for each video
  • Your library and history (which videos you've generated or unlocked) and any likes or reactions you give
  • Generated voiceover audio and, if you download a video, the rendered video file

Subscription & billing. If you upgrade to a paid plan, our payment processor handles the transaction and stores your payment details. We store only what we need to manage your subscription — a customer and subscription identifier, your plan, subscription status, and billing-period dates. We never store your full card number.

Usage & technical data. Like most websites, we and our analytics providers automatically receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and aggregate usage events. We use this to keep the service running, prevent abuse, and understand how SeaThru is used.

How we use your data

  • To create your account and sign you in
  • To generate videos, voiceovers, and articles from the topics you enter, and to play them back to you
  • To maintain your library and history and enforce plan limits (for example, how many videos you can generate)
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service, and to prevent fraud and abuse
  • To respond to your support requests and contact you about your account

Our legal bases (where the GDPR applies) are: performance of our contract with you (running the service), our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, and improving the product), and your consent (for non-essential analytics where required).

How content is shared with AI providers

SeaThru is powered by AI. To produce your explainer, the topic text you type is sent to Google Gemini to write the scene script and article, and the resulting narration text is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to synthesize the voice. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into the topic field, since that text is processed to generate your video.

Public content

SeaThru includes a public “explore” library. Videos that are marked public can be viewed by anyone and may be indexed by search engines. We don't attach your name or email to public videos, but please don't include anything private in a topic you generate.

Service providers we share data with

We share data only with the vendors that help us run SeaThru, and only as needed to provide the service. These include:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
  • Google — sign-in (OAuth), Gemini (video generation), Cloud Text-to-Speech (voice), and Google Analytics
  • Our payment processor — subscription billing and payments
  • Vercel — website hosting and product analytics
  • Amazon Web Services — rendering and storage of downloadable video files

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your personal data or share it for third-party advertising.

Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. We also use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand usage in aggregate. You can block cookies in your browser, but some features (like staying signed in) may not work.

How long we keep data

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records (for example, billing records) to comply with the law. Public videos may remain in the library in a de-identified form.

Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights — including deleting your account and data — email contact@seathru.app. You can also revoke SeaThru's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

Children

SeaThru is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and database-level row security so that your private library is only accessible to you. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly to any incident.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of SeaThru after an update means you accept the revised policy.
